ANALISIS PERSEBARAN MASYARAKAT TIONGHOA DI KABUPATEN KUANTAN SINGINGI, PROVINSI RIAU

Abstrak

This study aims to analyze the distribution of the Chinese community in Kuantan Singingi Regency by examining historical factors, settlement patterns, economic activities, and social dynamics that influence the presence of the community. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with the main informant, field observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the distribution of the Chinese community is shaped by economic mobility dating back to the river-trade era, with settlement concentrations located around local economic centers. Interethnic interactions remain harmonious, although challenges related to regeneration arise due to youth migration to urban areas. These results highlight that local conditions, economic structures, and social relations play essential roles in shaping the spatial distribution of the Chinese community in the inland region of Riau.

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis persebaran masyarakat Tionghoa di Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi dengan menelusuri faktor historis, pola permukiman, aktivitas ekonomi, serta dinamika sosial yang memengaruhi keberadaan komunitas tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif melalui wawancara mendalam dengan informan utama, observasi lapangan, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persebaran masyarakat Tionghoa dipengaruhi oleh mobilitas ekonomi sejak masa perdagangan sungai, dengan konsentrasi permukiman di sekitar pusat kegiatan ekonomi. Interaksi antaretnis berlangsung harmonis, namun tantangan regenerasi muncul akibat mobilitas generasi muda ke daerah urban. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa kondisi lokal, struktur ekonomi, dan hubungan sosial memiliki peranan penting dalam membentuk pola persebaran masyarakat Tionghoa di wilayah pedalaman Riau.
